Teen Generator

The Teen Generator is the project that educates and sensitizes young audience (teenagers) for contemporary dance and movement programs. The project is being developed in cooperation between VRUM / KLIKER and Stanice – Belgrade Dance Theater Service (Serbia), Choreographic Development Center of Toulouse (France) and Lokomotive – Center for New Arts and Culture Initiatives from Skopje (Macedonia), with the support of the French Institute in Belgrade and Zagreb (Teatroskop) and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the Kultura Nova Foundation.
Teen Generator is a new co-operation within the long-term collaborative project “Generator”, which since 2014 is dealing with the development of performing arts for children in the Balkan region. The focus of this new activity is placed on young people between the ages of 13 and 18, students of senior grades of primary and secondary school. In collaboration with French counterparts from the Toulouse Choreography Center, using their educational methodology that has been developing for ten years now, the aim is to introduce young people to dance art and offer them the methods of interpretation of different phenomena, popular cultures are only superficially acquainted to enable them to engage in the art of dance and movement in a completely new way – through processes of education and personal development. At the same time, with this project, we invest in the development of a new audience of contemporary dance and contribute to increasing the quality of the teaching of art in schools (which is constantly decreasing with the possibility of total disappearance of school programs).
The program is based on the educational project “Mallettes pedagogiques” of the Toulouse Choreography Center, started in 2007 and developed throughout France, which represents an exceptional example of mediation in culture, the development of a new audience and the increasingly neglected educational role of cultural institutions.
